The Lord will return to the earth one day. Not as a baby in a manger, but as a King, as a Judge.
The other day I was at work and we were told on arrival that a very important personality was dropping by as a surprise visit. Well, I’m not into footbal but I knew who it was and got all excited about at least being able to see him. It took a while for him to show up so we got distracted and started talking about mundane things whilst waiting. It was exactly aboout that time that the important guest showed up. I scrambled back to the group just in tme to hear his brief speech and words of encouragement before he got into his car and was driven off.
“Whew!”, said I….. in frustration and disappointment, I almost missed the entire thing by not being focused. Then in dread, I remembered the scriptures about the return of the Lord. It dawned on me that the scriptures were going to play out just as it reads about the surprise return of Christ.
We live in a world of constant distraction and it will take constant focus on the Word to be ready. But in addition the Lord said there will be signs given to remove all doubt about the timing of His return. We are experiencing one of the signs right now. A pestilence called Corona virus. A deadly plague.
Jesus said in Luke 21 :11…there will be mighty and violent earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences (plagues: malignant and contagious or infectious epidemic diseases which are deadly and devastating); and there will be sights of terror and great signs from heaven.
There are other signs outlined in the Book of Luke but despite these signs which are manifestly evident for all on the planet to see….. we are warned to take heed, keep awake and to watch…. All over the New Testament we are reminded to keep alert. No one will be left without an excuse for not knowing. Look at the wars, the famines, the plagues, the eartquakes, global warming, ozone layer issues, pollution…….these are all early warning signs and they’ve been increasing with intensity. The earth is groaning.
We will keep alert by practising keeping in the Word, living in the Word and seeking the Word in everything at all times. Live by the Word in obedience to it at all times….that’s called Watching…then pray continously as you Watch. Pray not to be caught up in the Signs and to be found obedient to God’s will at all times.
So, what are you doing right now? Is it God’s will for your life? Is it what you were created for? If Jesus came right now….would you be ready to welcome Him?
The current plague, so called ‘corona virus’ is one of the listed signs of His soon return!
Therefore, don’t be caught off guard…… think about it my dear friends, until the next time we meet…think about it.
