The Watchman

Anytime a major world disaster occurs around the globe it sets one thinking about judgment day. Is the apocalypse upon us?  This is what ran through the minds of the disciples when Jesus made a statement about the temple buildings in Matthew the 24th chapter. Jesus had said…”See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you, There shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down” What He said made the disciples infer that the end of the world was the only thing that could cause the temple buildings to be destroyed. They linked His statement to the end of age. To them the destruction of the temple buildings being the physical dwelling place of God at the time, was so significant that the only implication could be the apocalypse.

Jesus then went on to relay the events that would lead up to the apocalypse and ended with these instructions.

In Matthew chapter 24 the 42nd verse He instructed the disciples to ‘Watch’, and in Matthew the 44th verse, He instructed them to ‘Be ready’.

Thieves usually come at a time no one expects so homeowners usually prepare by securing their homes in advance.

The same way we learn from Matthew chapter 24 that God wants us to be prepared for the apocalypse and return of Jesus. Secure yourself. The only way we can do this is by watching and by being prepared. Watch by living your life according to the Word of God, for His Word is a lamp and light unto our path of life. Be ready by securing yourself as described in Ephesians chapter 6 verses 14-18. When we consistently live like this, we will be ready to face the challenges of the apocalypse and will see Him when he appears. We will not be afraid of the apocalypse and its labour pains for we will not be caught unawares. Sleeping people, are not aware of their surroundings until they wake up. We have to be spiritually alert ALL the time by constantly practicing watching and staying dressed up, fully clothed as described in Ephesians 6: 14-18. Our spirits need us to do this. Doont look at the uildings around you, look at the Word of God and dress up in the Word of God. You will stay awake like a true watchman awaiting the return of the Master.

Are you watching and are you ready? Be a watchman….. think like a watchman, live like a watchman!

Trinngggggg ling ling….time to wake up!!!
