The Rusty Can Opener
I had thrown out two can openers in the past year convinced they were bad. As a third one was about to go the way of all can openers I said to myself “can’t afford to waste anymore money on can openers” I must examine this opener closely before deciding to chuck it. Turned out to be a good decision for I found out the opener was actually in perfect condition. But why wouldn’t it go round the tin I wondered. Suddenly the penny dropped and I grabbed a can of olive oil spray. A couple of sprays later I tried out the opener…… it was like brand new, smooth and easy, the tin opened without a hitch.
The Grace of God is like that. When His Grace is upon us, difficult things, impossible things, things that seem challenging become easy.
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work” 2 Cor 9:8, 12
So next time a challenge comes up liken it to the rusty can opener which needed a little oiling.
Like that can opener we need His Grace instead. O Lord may your grace always be with us now and always….Amen.
